When it comes to casual wear, I must say that t-shirts are arguably the best and popular clothing of choice.

If anyone agrees with me, raise your hand 🙌

1…2…3…4…  Oh dear…so many of you!

T-shirts are made in various colors, styles, and come in different t-shirt neckline types and cuts, but I bet not every one of you reading this can recognize a T-shirt by its name.

Now that’s where the problem lies, ‘cos I figured out it’s high time I wrote about this topic after I wore a Henley top last week Sunday to the beach, and a stranger walked up to me and said

“Nice T-shirt, I’ve been looking for a classy V-neck such as this, where did you buy it from?”

“Common dude! This is a Henley top, not a V-neck t-shirt” – well I didn’t spill it out exactly this way, of course as a gentleman I ensured I showed decorum.

So what are the different t-shirt necklines?

In this article, I will be discussing the different types of T-shirt necklines that have evolved over the years. Let’s begin!

7 Different Types of T-Shirt Necklines That You Never Knew Before

#1. Round/Crew Neck T-Shirt Necklines

This is the most common and popular type of t-shirt neckline. Also known as a crew neck. As the name implies, the neckline is round and it is the common style of most t-shirts.

#2. V-Neck T-Shirt Necklines

The V-neck neckline is also another common neckline. It is cut in a V-Shape, the tip of the ‘V’ ends above the chest area. This neckline is said to be originated from the Middle East.

#3. Deep V-Neck T-shirt Necklines

Unlike the V-neck type of neckline, the cut is deeper in this type of neckline. If you like to show off your chiseled chest, this is the perfect type of neckline for you. This neckline is very popular among women, as it allows them to show off their cleavage.

#4. The Henley/Y T-shirt Necklines

The Henley or Y-neck t-shirt neckline is an offspring of the crew and the V t-shirt necklines. Unlike the parent, it has a buttoning slit several inches deep and it fits perfectly over a well-built muscular chest.

#5. Polo/Collar Neck T-shirt Necklines

This is also a very popular type of T-Shirt made famous by golfers. This type of t-shirt neckline is almost similar to the V-Neck T-Shirt, but in this case, there is a collar stitched on the neckline. This neckline gives a more formal look than the other types of T-Shirt.

#6. Scoop T-shirt Necklines

This is the younger brother of a Round Neck so they share similarities but the difference is that the neckline is a little bit deeper than the round neck. The deep neckline makes it great for casual wear and occasions.

#7. Deep Scoop T-shirt Necklines

Just a small difference from the scoop neckline, the deep scoop neck is the extreme version of the scoop neckline. The neckline is wider. Men wear this type of T-Shirt to show-off their chiseled chest.

Just kidding…

To be candid, these are just the basics, of course, I’m fully aware that there are several others not mentioned here. Feel free list the ones you’ve heard of before in the comments.

I’m sure you can guess mine by now…

Well, my favorite is the Henley T-shirt neckline and I wore it to the Beach last Sunday (Lol, you already know this if you read the entire piece from Top to Bottom).
